Hi, Welcome to
Patrick Chan's
Online Portfolio
At the age of 20, I joined BRIDAL PALACE as an assistant and learned much from wedding studio photography.
In the following year I went into commercial photography at IMAGERY PHOTOGRAPHY and realised how vast this industry was, from shooting people, events, toys to motorcycles with SLRs, medium format & large format cameras. Unfortunately the two years there had to end as I furthered my studies in Graphic Design at The One Academy of Communication Design.
Upon graduation, an international job opportunity surfaced and a few of us headed to Bangkok as Graphic Designers for official license product promotions for the 1998 Bangkok Asian Games and France World Cup '98. I stayed on after those events and worked in sepaktakraw events, picking up web designing, international liaison, etc.
Back in Kuala Lumpur after several years abroad, I continued in Graphic and Web Design jobs. However, it was my passion for motorsports that brought out everything I learned about design and photography to the table when colleagues offered this venture, though it did not last too long.
In 2010 I started serving our church, SIBKL as one of the volunteer photographers.
2011 was the year that I decided to pick up the camera again, but this time it is digital instead of film. Joining BLU INC MEDIA, the largest magazine publishing company in Malaysia where I started to master more photographic subjects like food, interior, fashion, portraiture, etc. Then, sadly, in 2020 Covid happened and the company ceased operations.
During this pandemic, I took the opportunity to learn and brush up my video editing skills.
After the pandemic, my journey in photography continued at a snack food chain, EDIBEE where I planned product photo shoots and did interview videos.
In the following year, I did products and events shoots at GEMLIVE.
Today I'm serving as a freelance photographer while picking up videography and drone aerial shoots as a hobby. Thank you for taking interest in getting to know my photography journey. Please do not hesitate to drop me a line should you have any inquiries. God bless!
